A Safety Sleeve

BFM flexible sleeve

BFM fittings are a safe, efficient, and flexible connector for powder conveying and process equipment. They make old-fashioned sleeves held by hose clamps obsolete. An assembly consists of a BFM flexible sleeve, stainless snap bands on both ends, and two metal-formed spigots. After welding the spigots to your process piping, the BFM sleeve can be installed or removed without tools. Simply squeeze the snap band and slide the sleeve in or out of the spigot, then release.

Sleeves fit perfectly and are identical every time, no matter who installs them, says the company. The dust-tight seal virtually eliminates leakage, keeping your plant cleaner and safer. And because the sleeve fits inside the spigots, the seal gets even tighter in the event of a sudden pressure shock. BFM fittings have been explosion tested by an independent agency.

The inside of the sleeve and spigots is crevice free, which prevents product build-up and reduces the risk of bacteria growth and cross-contamination. BFM sleeves don’t have any pinch or wear points that could cause premature failure in offset, vibratory, and oscillating applications.

Sleeves can be made from clear polyurethane, woven polyester, PTFE, and other materials. Sleeves are available in diameters from 4- to 48-inches and any length.
