OABA Engages New 4R Outreach Coordinator

The Ohio AgriBusiness Association has announced that Mark Fritz, of Willard, OH, will serve as the association’s 4R Outreach Coordinator under a contract relationship.

Fritz will inform, recruit, and advise nutrient service providers in the Western Lake Erie Basin on nutrient management practices as they relate to the 4Rs and the 4R Nutrient Stewardship Certification program.

“Mark has lifelong experience and understanding of agriculture and the environment, and how they interact,” said OABA President and CEO Chris Henney. “He appreciates the benefits of 4R nutrient stewardship principles, and he understands and can address barriers to adoption in a way that can help all of us to do our part to contribute to the health of our Great Lake, rivers, and streams.”

A recently retired inspector from the Ohio Department of Agriculture Division of Livestock and Environmental Permitting, Fritz has a strong history and experience in the areas of regulatory compliance, change management, proactive adoption of best management practices for nutrient stewardship, and working closely with state and federal regulatory agencies, commodity and farm organizations.

Fritz is a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, OH, and has operated his mixed grain and livestock farm for 38 years in addition to his off-farm career. His other past work experience includes agronomy sales and environmental responsibilities with Country Star Coop in New Washington, OH; manure management specialist with multi-county Soil and Water Conservation Districts; and consulting work with Land Stewards, LLC. He is a Certified Crop Adviser in good standing.
