We’ll be ‘Building a New Ag Value Chain’ in October at the PACE Executive Forum

I started working at CropLife® magazine in 1998 at a time of tremendous upheaval in the agriculture value chain. We were learning how disruptive that Roundup Ready crops were to become, how the growing dot-com bubble would bring both threats and opportunities, and how rampant consolidation across every segment of the agriculture distribution channel would create lasting, substantive change. I wondered back then when it would begin to slow down.

Of course, it never truly has. Whether it’s been globalization, regulation, the influx of digital technology, or the shifting sands of consumer demand, agriculture is perpetually adjusting the present to anticipate the what we will need to do, and to be, to sustain our businesses in the longer term. Some 20 years into my career here, it’s still true.

But today, with fewer and fewer players and a growing list of disruptions from within and outside the industry, the need for visioning and strategy has never been more important. We need ideas from every segment, and collaboration to ensure we’re working as efficiently as possible on the problems we face. This is the foundation of a new event we’re developing, the PACE Executive Forum.

The concept for this new conference evolved out of more than two decades of work I’ve been involved with through CropLife Media’s PACE Program, a professionalism initiative for the input distribution channel. In collaboration with a 24-member Advisory Council representing every segment of the value chain, PACE led and supported myriad educational efforts to improve and sustain the ag value chain. The bringing together of individuals and ideas from all corners of the value chain has proven to be an invaluable resource.

The inaugural PACE Executive Forum, October 26-28, 2020, in Kansas City, MO, is an extension of this concept. It will feature participation from thought leaders and experts from every segment of the agriculture and crop production value chain to learn, network, and strategize. Featuring the theme “Building a New Ag Value Chain,” this intensive conference is designed to create an ideal environment for learning and networking.

The agenda is beginning to take shape, with input coming from our event advisory board, so more details are on the way. You can sign up for regular conference updates by clicking here, or send me an email and I will be happy to connect with you. Hope to see you in Kansas City in October!
