RoGator Series: Stopping Power

Admittedly, to stand out at any trade show is difficult. At an equipment show such as the Midwest AG Industries Exposition (MAGIE), it can be harder still, given that most of the products being exhibited are examples of Big IRON.
But it can be done. This year, the standout product was the new RoGator series from AGCO Corp. Show buzz among attendees who saw or test drove these units helped them become the ShowStopper Award winner for 2009.
“We are quite pleased to be recognized with the ShowStopper Award for 2009,” said Mark Sharitz, director of marketing for AGCO, when accepting the trophy. “We have a great staff. Lots of hard work and hours were put in by our manufacturing and engineering teams and we are delighted with the products they provided us.”
Defining A ShowStopper
According to CropLife IRON Editor Eric Sfiligoj, the ShowStopper Award honors that single product at the annual MAGIE show that literally “stops people in their tracks” and convinces them to come over and have a look.
“When we first conceived of this award back in 2007, our magazine wanted to acknowledge the one product at the MAGIE that had everyone talking,” says Sfiligoj. “That may be the most innovative product at the show or it could be the flashiest. Ultimately, what counts is what MAGIE attendees think is the most exciting thing they’ve seen during the two-day event.”
Jean Payne, president of the Illinois Fertilizer & Chemical Association and co-sponsor of the ShowStopper Award, agrees.
“Recognizing the most talked about product at the MAGIE show is what this honor is all about,” says Payne.
As for the 2009 ShowStopper Award winner, the RoGator series for 2010 has several upgraded features that had MAGIE visitors talking. These included front-end access, a wider cab door, and hand rails that widen as the operator moves further back on the machine’s walkway. “All five new RoGator models also have an extra 100 gallons added to their product tanks,” said Paul Haefner, RoGator marketing specialist, Ag-Chem for AGCO. “This means the range sizes now range from 900 gallons on the low end to 1,300 gallons on the high end.”
Other new features on the RoGators for 2010 include new floor mats in the operator cab to reduce noise and placing the mirrors on the boom rests. “This helps improve visibility for the operator when the unit is out on the road between application jobs,” said Haefner.
