OSU Alumni Association Honors SST President
September 16, 2010 The Oklahoma State University Alumni Association has honored David A. Waits of Stillwater, OK, as one of the 2010 Distinguished Alumni Award recipients. The award is presented to alumni for professional achievement and community service.
Waits graduated from OSU with a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in geography in 1986 and 1988, respectively. In 1991, he earned a doctorate degree from Texas Tech University. He is the president and CEO of SST Software, the precision agriculture software development firm he co-founded in 1994.
While Waits has earned multiple leadership, innovation, and service awards throughout his career, he also was recognized with the Precision Ag Institute 2009 Precision Agriculture Legacy Award. His career is epitomized in the success of SST developing innovation and industry improvement. SST Software spans the globe with technological advancements that link GPS technology, automated data collected in agricultural fields, crucial business alliances and software programming to create GIS products and information management services that help the entire industry reach new levels.
