A Thousand Thank Yous

When I arrived at Meister Media in 1998, it was only one of three significant changes happening in my life at the time. Our son had been born only a month earlier, and we were preparing to move into our beloved century house in suburban Cleveland.

Some 23 years and change later, I’ve made the difficult decision to take my professional work in a different direction as Marketing and Communications Director with AgGateway. I’m thrilled to have an opportunity to positively impact retail business in this new role, but it’s not easy to say goodbye to an organization that has afforded me the opportunity to be a part of some amazing work.

I will really miss my UpFront editorial cohort and fellow Cleveland State University Viking Eric Sfiligoj, who has been with me on this journey for all but one year, and has been the engine that keeps the editorial trains running efficiently and effectively. CropLife® won’t miss a beat with him at the helm.

Matt Hopkins, our online editor (also a Viking!) who’s been with Meister longer than me, will continue to carry the load on our digital efforts. And editors Dan Jacobs and Jackie Pucci will continue to deliver depth and texture to the beats they cover that have allowed CropLife’s various brands to exert market dominance for many years. I am forever grateful to all of them and believe they will continue to excel for years to come.

In the market, so many people were generous with time and talent over the years. It starts with my mentor and friend on the business of retail, the late Ron Farrell. Then there was Harold Reetz, who helped me negotiate the complexities of precision agriculture in those early years. And of course, the literally hundreds of conversations across desks in steel shed offices, amid towering fertilizer bins, and inside cluttered truck cabs with retailers from coast to coast. Your willingness to share your stories of fortitude and success are what made the job such a joy.

Coming into the industry as nothing more than a city kid who could write, the support I received as I learned this industry from the ground up was overwhelming. I wish I could personally thank each of you.

I will be disappearing from this space, but look forward to connecting with many of you in the future at events and conferences as I embark on my new journey. And I do so with the confidence that the CropLife Media team will continue as the undisputed voice of the distribution channel.
