IFCA 2022: Looking to the Future

As the calendar has moved into the middle of the first month of 2022, one of the nicest things to occur has been the return of in-person events. This week I am attending the annual Wisconsin Agribusiness Classic in Madison, WI, and I am getting ready to venture to Peoria, IL, for the annual Illinois Fertilizer & Chemical Association (IFCA) meeting, featuring the title “Navigating into the Future.” Like most events during early 2021, IFCA held last year’s event virtually, but has now decided returning to an in-person format is the right way to go.

“We have a great trade show, combined with anhydrous ammonia training, pesticide training, pesticide license testing in all categories, a regulatory workshop on transportation, fertilizer issues, and educational sessions including an update on dicamba and other sessions on what’s going on in the industry,” says IFCA President Kevin “KJ” Johnson. “Plus, [there will be] plenty of hospitality and opportunity to network and have fun with your colleagues in the industry.”

Of course, one of the other highlights from an annual IFCA would be the packed exhibit hall, filled with industry representatives and product information available at myriad company booths. There is also the opening night mixer on the show floor, along with an auction of industry memorabilia and other items, which helps close the opening day’s events.

And this year, another pair of highlights will come on January 20, as educational sessions take center stage. One of these will be Josh Linville of StoneX Group, looking at the global fertilizer outlook for 2022. This will be followed by a special roundtable discussion with the heads of three key Washington, DC-based trade groups: The Fertilizer Institute (Corey Rosenbusch), the Agricultural Retailers Association (Daren Coppock), and CropLife America (Chris Novak) discussing how agricultural can successfully “navigate into the future.”

So, if you have the time, I would encourage you to consider attending the 2022 IFCA Annual Meeting. You can find more information about the event at ifca.com/convention.
