Six High School Seniors Join Keystone’s SEED Development Program

Six graduating FFA members across Indiana will be kickstarting their careers with Keystone Cooperative as part of a two-year, on-the-job development opportunity beginning this June.

The newly formed SEED (Securing Experience + Employee Development) program is a two-year developmental opportunity providing a select number of recent high school graduates full-time employment and benefits, on-the-job training and all professional accreditations and certifications paid for by Keystone.

“SEED is a boots-on-the-ground learning experience for someone who would rather get to work than sit in class,” said Keystone CEO Kevin Still. “This new model of employee development is not only building a stronger rural workforce. We’re also creating opportunities for the next generation to build meaningful careers in the communities their families have called home for generations.”

The SEED Development Professionals will explore what it means to have a fulfilling, impactful career at Keystone, a Top 10 U.S. farmer-owned cooperative. The six students selected will each spend the next two years in a series of rotations, learning about the diversified businesses of the cooperative: grain, energy, agronomy, swine & animal nutrition, and corporate.

Successful participants will find opportunities for full-time careers at the end of the program that match their interests and abilities.

“Being able to forge these relationships with young agriculture leaders so early in their careers is a unique opportunity, and one we hold at high esteem,” said Sharpsville, IN farmer and Keystone board chair Bill Peters. “These students are trusting us to provide a solid foundation to build the rest of their careers on. We’re glad to offer this opportunity that will have positive impacts on them, their coworkers and Keystone member-owners, both today and into the future.”

Keystone is proud to recognize these six outstanding students as the first SEED cohort:
