Agricultural Industry Veteran Dr. Ray Hoyum Passes

On March 13, Dr. Raymond (Ray) Hoyum passed away. He was 75.

For many years, Hoyum served as part of the agricultural marketplace, spending more than 30 years in the fertilizer industry responsible for a wide range of programs, from agronomic support to product development in more than 40 countries. Much of this time was spent with IMC Global (now Mosaic), a supplier of crop nutrients. Upon his retirement from IMC Global in the early 2000s, Hoyum went on to serve as President of Advantage International, a global agricultural consulting firm.

Hoyum also served as a member of the PACE Advisory Council, an industry panel of key agricultural representatives organized by CropLife magazine, between 2000 and 2006. “Ray was a special contributor to our PACE meetings, each and every year,” said Eric Sfiligoj, Editor of CropLife. “He also offered his great wisdom to the group and his insights into the history of the market were very useful to those of us who were new to the finer points of agriculture at the time.”
