Social Media, Video, And More
The new study highlighted in our Top Story this week, “Large-Acreage Growers Actively Using New Media,” really caught my attention — and I suspect yours, too.
Did you notice the percentage of these particular growers in the corn and soybean sectors that are texting, tweeting, and otherwise touching base with news sources and others inside and outside the industry? A whopping 62 percent, according to the just-released Agriculture New Media Usage Study from Nicholson Kovac, Inc. I don’t know how that compares to other industries, but I find that to be a very impressive number. And we all know that’s going to continue to grow in the next few years.
My question to you is — are you working these various forms of communication to your dealership’s advantage? Will they work for you, and if so, how are you using any of them?
The CropLife Media Group — which brings you the CropLife, CropLife IRON, and Precision Ag brands in print and online formats — has been working diligently behind the scenes to provide more useful and accurate formats of communication and information gathering to help you in your business. The fact that you’re receiving CropLife eNews means you’re at least familiar with CropLife® magazine, CropLife eNews, and CropLife.com.
On CropLife.com, we recently began offering CropLife TV, our newest foray into new media. There are three channels at this time:
- Channel 1, “One On One,” is where you’ll be able to check out interviews we’ve conducted with experts and retailers, field reports, meeting and conference coverage, and more.
- Channel 2, “CropLife Insider, is where the inside scoop on what’s going on in the industry and the “must-reads” in upcoming issues of the print magazine can be found.
- Channel 3, “Product Showcase,” provides the latest in products and services for your business. Informative and instructional video clips from your suppliers are ready for viewing on this channel. Expect more news on this channel in the near future.
At this point, Group Editor Paul Schrimpf does all of our tweets on Twitter. You can follow him on Twitter @precisionagguy. You can also become a fan of PrecisionAg.com and CropLife magazine on Facebook.
From time to time, I’ll be sure to update you on our offerings on the various social media and new media such as CropLife TV. Please don’t be shy in letting us know what you’re doing in these areas.
