AgGateway to Host 10 Outstanding Students at Its Annual Conference

AgGateway has announced that 10 college students have been selected to attend the organization’s Annual Conference in November through the Gateway to Ag Careers program.

“We’re excited to be hosting these exceptional students, who represent the bright future we are all working for in this industry,” says Brent Kemp, AgGateway President and CEO. “There are many opportunities for young people in the world of technology, and it is our hope that exposure to what agriculture has to offer at the AgGateway Annual Conference will demonstrate that this industry offers a wide range of fulfilling career paths.”

“We’ve supported this program because we must nurture the interest that students have expressed in this industry,” says Karen Oerter, Director IT, Winfield United at Land O’ Lakes and President of the AgCIO Roundtable. “The work we do will ultimately impact the efficiency of the value chain — and ultimately, the farmer — and knowing that our work plays a key role in feeding the world is very gratifying.”

The application process required each student to submit an essay explaining what they hoped to gain by attending the AgGateway Annual Conference. Academic advisors and others had the opportunity to provide supporting information to accompany the application.

At the Conference, the students will make individual presentations at a special session during the conference to share their work, ambitions, and interests in the agriculture industry.

The 10 recipients represent nine different academic institutions from across the country. They are as follows:

  • Justin Allange, Purdue University
  • Fei Xyza Asuncion, Kansas State University
