Strong Spring Snowstorm May Hit Northern U.S.

A potent storm system is expected to develop across the north central Plains and northwestern Midwest Wednesday through Friday of this week, which will result in some heavy snowfall there, according to an article on USAgNet.com.

The main areas expected to be affected would be South Dakota, Nebraska, northwestern Kansas, northeastern Colorado, southern Minnesota, northern Iowa, and Wisconsin.

“Snowfall totals will likely be heaviest in southeastern South Dakota and southwestern Minnesota.” said Don Keeney, Senior Agricultural Meteorologist at Maxar. “This storm system will continue to stall fieldwork and will also add to the flooding issues in that region once it begins to melt.” said Keeney.

The storm system will also draw much colder air into the central Plains, and some damage will be possible to jointing wheat in central and southwestern Kansas and western Oklahoma by Friday morning.
