Sprayer Savvy

In this wrap-up of our 2007 Summer Show Preview series, sprayers take center stage. Numerous venerable sprayer manufacturers and one newcomer will showcase their newest and best spray rigs at the Midwest AG Industry Exposition (MAGIE) and other summer shows. Here are some of the highlights of what retailers can expect to see:
Case IH Patriot Sprayers
Case IH Patriot sprayers’ cab forward, rear engine configuration provides optimum weight distribution over the front and rear axles for less field rutting and earlier field access. The 1,200-gallon Case IH Patriot 4410 sprayer, rated at 290 base engine horsepower, offers a 50/50 weight distribution and comes equipped with either the deluxe or luxury Surveyor cab and a right-hand console that moves with the operator seat. New for 2008, the Patriot 4420 sprayer will be equipped with automatic temperature control and an optional deluxe high intensity discharge night-lighting package.
John Deere 4830 Sprayer

The 4830 Sprayer is part of the 30 Series of self-propelled sprayers from John Deere. The 4830, a new size from John Deere, features PowerPlus 275-hp engine (with a peak 300-hp rating), a 1,000-gallon capacity solution tank, and boom sizes up to 100 feet. It also utilizes the standard GreenStar 2 monitor preloaded with precision features. The optional Boom Trac Pro automatic boom leveling maintains a consistent height over the crop while Swath Control Pro automatically turns nozzle sections on and off at end rows, waterways, and other nonspray areas. This intelligent technology is designed to help operators cover more acres in less time, spray product more efficiently, and reduce operator fatigue with the assisted-steering system of optional AutoTrac.
Equipment Technologies’ Apache AS1010

Equipment Technologies’ Apache AS1010 will be featured at the 2007 MAGIE show. The AS1010 Apache utilizes the Apache mechanical drive. Powered by a 215-hp Tier III Cummins engine coupled to either a JCB six-speed power-shift transmission or the optional Funk six-speed power-shift transmission, the 1010 has the power and versatility to handle tough application conditions. Standard features include a 1,000-gallon poly product tank, limited slip differential, patented hydraulic suspension, 120-inch to 144-inch adjustable axles, 36 mph road speed, and a custom pressurized cab.
GVM Prowler 9275

The GVM Prowler 9275 offers fuel efficiency with its 10-speed direct drive power shift transmission. It is equipped with the new Cummins QSB6.7-275-hp diesel engine with 2,500 rpm, 730 pounds of torque at 1,500 rpm.
Hagie Manufacturing Co. STS14 sprayer

The latest introduction from Hagie Manufacturing Co., the 2008 STS14 sprayer is designed for those who need the narrow wheel package and versatility of the STS12 with more capacity, but can’t justify the cost of an STS16. The 1,400-gallon solution tank provides low ground compaction. The 72-inch ground clearance and narrow wheel and leg design makes it an ideal choice for herbicide, insecticide, and fungicide applications throughout the growing season, including late season.
Miller-St. Nazianz N2XP

Miller-St. Nazianz has introduced a new mid-size sprayer model with a larger than mid-size capacity. The N2XP has many advancements in the operator environment, the ride, traction, steering, and more.
Modern Flow Equipment’s FieldHawk

At the heart of the Modern Flow Equipment’s FieldHawk is a Cummins-Tier III-QSC 8.3-liter 305-hp engine. Also featured is the industry’s first computerized anti-slip traction (CAST) control system, which applies and maintains torque to all four wheels while regulating oil flow to prevent overspin and motor damage on the wheel. Optional all-wheel steering and on-board anemometer to measure wind speed, along with a more durable frame with an oscillating front axle, are among the other 100 enhanced features.
