Miller Puts The Pedal Down

John W. Miller, vice president of Miller-St. Nazianz Inc. and the fifth generation of Millers to assume a leadership role at the 108-year old-company, had the look of a proud papa at the company’s recent new product event.
And why not? Several months worth of extensive product reengineering and a bold new look and logo made quite a statement as the new rigs made their way around a Wisconsin testing field. The most notable addition to the product family was the new Nitro Series 4000 high clearance sprayers.
“We concentrated on a lot of things,” says Miller about the product development process. “We spent months and months on factors such as suspension, noise quality, and the quality of the cab, but we also knew that the look needed to be different. This was the time to change it, and it really lets applicators know that we’re a one-stop shop.”
The new 4000 Series offers five models providing a wide range of horsepower and capacity. The series was designed with a front mounted boom and higher boom lift capability for ease of transportation and better visibility.
Cab comfort was another key focus, with improved controls layout, an air ride cab, and a high back seat.
The new 4215 and 4240 models offer boom widths of 60 to 90 feet and a 1,000-gallon product tank. The 4275, 4315, and 4365 models feature available boom widths ranging from 60 to 120 feet and product capacities of 1,200, 1,400, or 1,600 gallons. Engine horsepower corresponds to the last three digits in the model number.
Miller also showed off the latest rigs in its existing application rig lines. The Miller Nitro 2XP features a 215-hp engine capable of 38 mph on the road, a new cab, and increased deck area for improved access to machine operations.
The Atlas 3304 is the “Millerized” name for the center ride unit the company purchased from Mertz. The truck-chassis floater features a 330-hp Caterpillar engine, seven working speeds, and hydraulic steering that is autosteer capable.
