Progress Made On Agricultural Tractor Cab HVAC Standards
August 26, 2013 The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) announces the recent approval of two standards in its series on air quality systems of agricultural cabs.
The revision to part 2 of the series, ANSI/ASBE S613-2.1, Tractors and self-propelled machinery for agriculture — Air quality systems for cabs — Part 2: Cab and HVAC design, updates the standard’s format and includes enhancements identified by committee members. That revision was approved in late June.
Part 3, ANSI/ASABE S613-3, Tractors and self-propelled machinery for agriculture — Air quality systems for cabs — Part 3: Filters for environmental cab HVAC systems, which addresses filter design, was approved in August.
Work also continues on part 4, the last in the series, which will include a field-test procedure for cab qualification. Completion is expected in 2015. The drafting committee encourages those interested to contribute comments on the optimum test method.
