Tidal Grow Previews Innovations for the Future of Agriculture
This past August, numerous agricultural visitors made their way to a research field in central Indiana. There, the group was shown many field trials featuring the products of their host, Tidal Grow Agriscience. And they also were introduced to the company’s newest innovation.
“On behalf of everyone at Tidal Grow, welcome to our Agronomy College,” said Norm Davy, President and Chief Commercial Officer in his opening remarks. “I’m sure you will find all of the information and data we have to share with you today very interesting and important to your agricultural businesses going forward.”
Davy went on to describe how Tidal Grow has positioned itself within the agricultural community as an alternative source for crop nutrition and seed treatment. The company produces fish hydrolysate fertilizers through a process called hydrolysis. This process uses enzymes to break down fish and fish byproducts into smaller nutrients that retain all organic compounds needed to produce crop nutrition products.
Two of these products highlighted at the Agronomy College were Oceanic and SeaPhos. Oceanic uses upcycled crab shells as its base while SeaPhos is a cold-processed seafood hydrolysate liquid fertilizer made from fish bones.
“Both of these products can be used by growers to improve the crop nutrient uptake by their crops,” said Curt Knight, Agronomy Solutions Manager. “And that can translate into increased yields.”
The Coming of alignN
Of course, the biggest news coming out of the Tidal Grow Agronomy College was news of the company’s newest product, alignN. According to Dr. Trey Cutts, Vice President of Commercial Ag Science, this product was engineered for the ever-changing world today’s agricultural producers live in.
“The real world is filled with logistical challenges and farmers need to do what they have to do to make a profit, and making these changes can be hard,” said Cutts. “How can we as an industry bring new tools into the market and help farmers follow 4R practices that don’t affect their existing programs and can help benefit their bottom lines?”
The answer to this question, according to Cutts, is alignN. Formally launched by Tidal Grow in mid-September, alignN is a first-of-its-kind foliar applied nitrogen designed to help growers maximize yields while significantly reducing nitrogen waste. Powered by align Technology, alignN 18-0-0 delivers encapsulated urea nitrogen directly onto and into the leaf, where it is absorbed for maximum uptake and metabolism.
“Our large-scale grower trials demonstrate measurable crop performance improvements, including bigger brace roots, improved stalk integrity, limited leaf-firing, less tip-back, bigger ears, and enhanced plant health, which all contribute to improved yields.” said Cutts. “With this technology, we are helping growers get the most out of their nitrogen program. It’s an effective, intelligent way to deliver nitrogen that ultimately improves crop performance.”
According to Cutts, alignN is compatible with most herbicides, fungicides, and other nutritional inputs. “Its low-rate and flexibility allow for application by ground equipment, aerial sprayers, or drones, making it adaptable to a range of operational needs and field conditions,” he said.
