Farmers Get Real About Experience with Biologicals in New Mosaic Biosciences Initiative
With the deluge of information about products in the biologicals market, farmers may feel bombarded with marketing messages rather than getting real and insightful perspectives. Mosaic Biosciences is committed to bringing science and transparency to the biologicals market, evident through their new Frontier Fields initiative.
Frontier Fields will follow a handful of farmers throughout the year as they actively trial BioPath, a biological fertilizer complement from Mosaic Biosciences. The farmers all represent different size farms and different levels of experience in using biologicals. Through the Frontier Fields video series, farmers will share their own personal stories about the 2024 growing season, including their perceptions of biologicals and how they impact a crop’s success. This authentic, real-life account of using biologicals in the field will cut through the noise and elevate a farmer voice in a segment that is often dominated with empty promises.
“We know there can be some skepticism when it comes to biologicals,” said Matt Sowder, Director of Field Solutions at Mosaic Biosciences. “They are a critical part of moving agriculture forward, but there are questions about when and how they work, and why results can be different year to year. While Mosaic Biosciences continues to dig deeper into the science of biologicals, the farmers in our Frontier Fields initiative will give other farmers the chance to observe what is happening in different fields, some which may have similar soils or growing conditions to their own, and see how biologicals are working. We hope it gives farmers more confidence when they are choosing a biological product in the future.”
The participating farmers all trialed a Mosaic Biosciences product in 2023 through the TotalAcre program. Seeing positive results but wanting to find out how to maximize the impact of biologicals, each of the farmers’ stories will come to life through regular and candid updates via blogs, pictures and videos, all housed on FrontierFields.com. Visitors can follow along throughout the year to track the farmers’ progress and experiences in the field.
The Frontier Fields farmers include:
- Jake Drozd (Michigan)
- Ryan Drozd (Michigan)
- Andrew Focht (Iowa)
- Brooks Reid (Missouri)
- David Schrock (Indiana)
- Granvil Travis (Illinois)
“Mosaic Biosciences is excited to bring Frontier Fields to farmers around the country,” Sowder said. “We know farmers care about what they put in the ground and use on their crops, but it also has to bring value. What better way to show that value than with authentic farmer experiences throughout the year? Together with our trial data platform, TruResponse, we hope to give farmers the objective information they need to make the right decision for their farm.”
