FBN’s Global Crop Solutions Opens New Doors for Ag Retail Partners
As the agricultural input landscape undergoes rapid transformation, Farmers Business Network (FBN) continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible in farm supply, technology, and transparency. Known for its direct-to-farm e-commerce platform, data-driven insights, and price transparency, the company is now taking a major step forward with the formation of Global Crop Solutions (GCS) — a new entity designed to streamline the complex world of formulation, regulatory management, and supply chain operations.
According to Charles Baron, Co-Founder and Chief Marketing & Product Officer at FBN, the creation of GCS represents both a refinement and expansion of the company’s mission. “Over the years, we vertically integrated much of our crop protection business — from registration and formulation to supply chain and logistics,” said Baron during a recent interview with CropLife’s sister brand AgriBusiness Global. “With GCS, we’re separating that ‘first mile’ component into a standalone entity. This allows GCS to serve a broader customer base beyond FBN, while FBN continues to focus on farmers.”
That separation, he notes, creates flexibility for both sides of the business. FBN remains the farmer-facing platform, offering inputs, financing, and services through its rapidly growing e-commerce network. Meanwhile, GCS becomes a behind-the-scenes powerhouse capable of working directly with manufacturers, distributors, and other ag retailers. “For growers, nothing changes,” Baron says. “They still buy, finance, and receive delivery through FBN. But now, GCS can partner with other companies as a registration or supply chain partner, expanding access to products and markets.”
Strengthening the Supply Chain
The move positions GCS as a unique player in the global crop protection ecosystem. FBN has built one of the largest registration portfolios in the industry — a resource that GCS can now leverage to support the broader ag retail network. “GCS will primarily focus on synthetic crop protection,” Baron explains, “while FBN continues to offer biologicals through its marketplace. Together, we’re creating new pathways for innovative companies to reach farmers efficiently.”
With more than 120,000 farmer members across the U.S. and Canada — representing over 190 million acres — FBN’s reach offers global manufacturers a streamlined entry point into the North American market. Baron notes that the company’s expanded marketplace gives partners flexibility and control.
“A company can manage its own ‘store’ inside the FBN experience,” he says. “They can use our e-commerce platform, financing, and AI tools to reach customers directly. We’re bringing on more seed partners like Tech Genetics and Green Cover, as well as livestock brands such as Alltech and Westway.”
Managing Risk and Financing Growth
FBN’s expansion also comes at a time of heightened market uncertainty. With global trade dynamics — especially reduced U.S. soybean and corn exports to China — impacting farm incomes, financing has become a key concern for growers.
“Financing is always critical,” Baron acknowledges. “But yes, we expect demand to rise. There’s a lot of uncertainty — tariffs, supply chain risk, input costs. FBN helps farmers manage that risk through 0% financing programs, early-buy opportunities, and other tools that let them lock in prices and reduce exposure.”
The Road Ahead
Structurally, GCS will operate as a standalone company with its own leadership and operations. It will not sell directly to farmers — that remains FBN’s domain — but will instead collaborate with ag retailers, distributors, and manufacturers around the world. “FBN remains focused on customer experience and technology,” Baron says. “GCS focuses on supply chain, supplier management, and partnerships.”
Looking forward, Baron emphasizes FBN’s commitment to a multi-channel model — combining digital commerce with in-field engagement through its growing network of community builders. “Our message is simple,” he says. “FBN is open for business. Whether you’re a supplier of crop protection, biologicals, or other inputs—if you’re putting farmers first—we want to work with you.”
Ultimately, the formation of GCS represents more than a structural shift. It’s part of FBN’s broader effort to create an open, efficient, and farmer-centric supply chain that benefits all players in the industry. “This structure removes channel conflicts and opens new opportunities,” Baron concludes. “Manufacturers and innovators can now engage with FBN and GCS more easily. For GCS, it’s about enabling access. For FBN, it’s about expanding choice. Together, they’re building a more open and innovative ag supply ecosystem.”
