TFI Praises White House For Signing WRRDA Into Law

The Fertilizer Institute (TFI) commends President Barack Obama for signing the Water Resources Reform and Development Act (WRRDA, H.R. 3080). The bill funds modernization of inland waterways in the U.S. It streamlines U.S. Army Corps of Engineers projects; prioritizes authorized waterway improvements based upon risk of failure and economic return; and, provides needed adjustments to the Inland Waterways Trust Fund which supports port maintenance and operations.

“We extend our thanks to the President and Congressional leaders for taking action to improve our nation’s water transportation infrastructure,” said TFI President Chris Jahn.  “Our farmer customers, who receive close to 70 million tons of fertilizer each year, much of it via our nation’s waterways, rely upon a modern and efficient waterway system for the timely delivery of crop nutrients.”
