Precision Planting to Launch New Data App for Farmers
Precision Planting has revealed their newest product, Panorama, which helps farmers utilize the data from their 20|20 monitor. Panorama was announced during the first day of the company’s annual Winter Conference.
“At Precision Planting, we Believe in Better for farmers,” said Bryce Baker, marketing manager, Precision Planting. “That means pursuing excellence in everything we do, and our annual Winter Conference is an example of this commitment.”
The event, which will repeat sessions daily through Friday, typically hosts more than 5,000 attendees at the company’s Tremont headquarters and remotely at 21 other locations in the U.S. and Canada. Attendees have the opportunity to learn more about planter maintenance, the importance of emergence, and see the results of the company’s latest plot research that challenges the status quo in farming practices.
Panorama
Data collection and utilization continues to help farmers increase on-farm efficiency. Panorama by Precision Planting helps farmers better utilize collected data by allowing for easy uploads to the platform of their choice. Panorama allows farmers an unobstructed view of the data collected in their cab, whether on the app or through moving data to the platform of their choice.
“The 20|20 monitor provides the most complete and clear agronomic picture of a farmer’s field, and farmers should be able to easily access that data in the platform of their choice,” said Justin McMenamy, Vice President of Disruptive Products. “Panorama features an API that allows other industry data platforms to create a connection to the Precision Planting system, allowing the data to flow seamlessly from the 20|20 monitor to any platform that has a connection with us.”
Panorama will feature map viewing, reporting, and the ability for a farmer to allow their Precision Planting dealer to provide remote technology support. Panorama will be beta tested in the spring of 2023, in the United States and Canada, with further release plans available later in 2023. Once released, Panorama will be offered through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, as well as through a browser-based experience.
Sprayer Portfolio Update
During the 2022 Winter Conference, Precision Planting unveiled a suite of projects that were being worked on to improve sprayers. At this year’s Winter Conference, updates to some of these projects were presented to attendees:
ReClaim Boom Priming and Recirculation Now for Sale
Traditional sprayers require farmers or operators to spray product to the ground to prime the width of the boom fully. Many times, more than 50 gallons of product is sprayed, causing a hot spot of chemicals. With ReClaim added to sprayers, chemicals mixed in the tank can be circulated through the booms and back to the tank, never having to spray a drop of chemical to the ground.
“ReClaim uses a single rocker switch in the cab to engage recirculation, and once recirculation is completed, farmers are ready to spray with the correctly mixed chemical across the entire boom,” McMenamy said. “ReClaim is designed to be retrofit onto a farmer’s existing sprayer with the electric or standard nozzles and is now available for farmers to purchase from their Premier Precision Planting dealer.”
Symphony Nozzle Control System and Symphony Targeted Spraying
Attendees at the 2023 Winter Conference also saw updates to the Symphony product line, still under development. Symphony nozzle control was demonstrated, showing the Gen 3 20|20 maintaining consistent pressure across the nozzles, even as speed and rate changed.
Attendees also received an update of the Symphony Targeted Spraying System, a vision-based spraying system that uses camera technologies and artificial intelligence to vary spray rate based on weed size and pressure, or to spray herbicide only where weeds are present, saving chemicals. This system can be retrofit onto a farmer’s existing sprayer, allowing farmers to save significant cost over purchasing a new sprayer to get the latest technology.
