Loftness Introduces Redesigned Lime and Fertilizer Spreader
Loftness Specialized Equipment introduces the redesigned L1230 lime and fertilizer spreader. It features new drive systems and more options to increase the spreader’s versatility.
The L1230 is now available with either a variable-rate capable drive or the new Loftness-exclusive hydraulic fixed-rate drive. The variable-rate option has plug-and-play compatibility with controllers from all major manufacturers, as well as tractors equipped with ISOBUS technology. It offers user-friendly operation, plus the ability to utilize fertilizer prescriptions for automatic rate adjustments.
The hydraulic fixed-rate drive option functions similarly to a ground drive, except it uses speed sensors and a hydraulic conveyor to detect ground speed and adjust spreading rates, instead of a mechanically driven system with chains and sprockets. The hydraulic fixed-rate drive reduces maintenance requirements and increases reliability. It also prevents equipment damage, which is common on traditional ground drive spreaders when they are backed up or transported with the drive system engaged.
Other new options include the choice of row crop or walking tandem wheels to meet the needs of many different operations.
The L1230 features a belt-over-chain design, which works well for both lime and fertilizer applications. An integrated agitator helps to break up clumps for a more consistent flow of material to the spinners. Additionally, the stainless-steel hopper has 50-degree slopes with no internal obstructions to aid in material flow.
