Consolidation has been a continuing trend among the nation’s largest ag retailers over the years. Playing a central role in much of the merger and acquisition activity has been the state of Wisconsin. From United Cooperative merging with Cooperative Services in 2012 and Wisconsin River Co-op and Farmers’ Co-op forming Allied Cooperative in 2013, to Landmark Services Cooperative merging with Countryside Cooperative in March 2021 to form ALCIVIA, the Badger State has seen its share of consolidation within the CropLife 100. Despite the constant shake-up, Wisconsin was still well represented in the 2023 ranking with nine companies (second most of any state) headquartered there. To find out all of the Wisconsin-based companies that made the list (in reverse order of sales), view the slideshow.
Editor’s note: Companies included in the CropLife 100 listings were limited to independent dealerships and cooperatives that offer fertilizer, crop protection, seed, and custom application services. Figures do not include a host of services, such as data management, consulting/scouting, or grain elevator revenue. Dealerships and cooperatives are ranked in order by total sales in their respective sales group.
