WinField Unveiling NutriVision Technology, Ascend Dry Formulation

Reaching the next yield level will take major management alterations, such as moving crop inputs from pre-plant to in-season. To most effectively implement new strategies, farmers will need the right combination of insights and products, according to a WinField press release from the company’s Plant Nutrition segment.

Now, a year after its introduction, WinField is expanding its NutriSolutions 360 System, bringing farmers two new tools for more precise plant nutrition management. New for 2015 are NutriVision Technology, a unique tool for monitoring in-season plant nutrient availability, and Ascend WSG plant growth regulator, a new dry formulation of Ascend plant growth regulator.

“Managing plant nutrition can be the most complicated aspect of production agriculture,” said Darrin Holder, agronomist, WinField. “It’s all about applying the right nutrients, in the right form, at the right time. WinField continues to develop the tools needed to help farmers identify the best way to optimize their plant nutrient resources, which is key to achieving higher yield potential.”

As a complete solution to plant nutrition management, the NutriSolutions 360 System provides year-long insights and product recommendations to help farmers closely manage plant nutrition and bottom-line returns. The system’s tools include soil and tissue sampling, a complete portfolio of products formulated specifically to enhance plant growth and health, and the insights needed to help farmers capitalize on in-season opportunities to improve their return on investment.

New technology pinpoints nutrient availability

NutriVision Technology offers a new way to monitor in-season plant nutrition by measuring nutrient availability in the soil to forecast accessibility by crops at key growth stages. By identifying nutrient limitations in the soil at early crop stages, farmers can protect yield potential with appropriate in-season plant nutrient applications.

To use NutriVision Technology, a soil sample is sent to a designated lab for analysis. Lab technicians make a paste from the submitted soil and insert a NutriVision ion-exchange capsule into the mixture to mimic root uptake. After several days, capsule analysis shows nutrient uptake levels. NutriVision Technology currently measures potassium availability and will be expanding analysis to additional nutrients in the future.

“With more than 25,000 NutriVision tests completed over the past two years, we’re seeing consistent deficiency correlations between early NutriVision test results and tissue sample analysis later in the season,” Holder noted.  “As we continue to gather NutriVision data and insights, farmers have a new resource for pinpointing – and correcting – nutrient deficiencies before yield potential is affected.”

Dry formulation simplifies foliar application

New Ascend plant growth regulator is now available in a patented, easy-to-mix dry formulation featuring water soluble granules. Ascend WSG plant growth regulator offers the same plant growth and health benefits as the original liquid formulation while simplifying use in foliar applications. Retailers will have a bulk delivery option with Ascend WSG plant growth regulator and the concentrated formulation will reduce storage requirements.

“Our new Ascend dry formulation provides an exciting platform for future product innovations,” said Adam Mangum, plant nutrition marketing manager, WinField. “We look forward to introducing more unique products that combine the benefits of Ascend with other advances to help farmers optimize every acre.”

Both formulations of Ascend plant growth regulator contain an optimal combination of cytokinin, gibberellic acid and indolebutyric acid to accelerate leaf, stem and root growth, and promote plant health in a wide variety of crops.

Both NutriVision Technology and Ascend WSG plant growth regulator are available for the 2015 season. See your WinField retailer for more details or visit winfield.com.
