Sound Agriculture Launches INFLECT to Protect Yield on High-Ammonium Corn Acres
Sound Agriculture announces the launch of INFLECT, a seed-applied biological built for anhydrous ammonia and manure-heavy corn acres, which delivered a +6.0 bu/ac average yield gain and a 92% win rate across 12 trial locations in Illinois, Kansas, and Missouri in 2025.
High ammonium fertility practices such as anhydrous ammonia and manure application are among the most effective ways to deliver nitrogen to a corn crop, but they come at a cost to soil biology. Anhydrous acidifies the soil and suppresses sensitive microbes in the application band, while manure can lock nitrogen into organic forms that don’t mineralize until after peak crop demand. In both cases, the result is the same: weakened root systems, narrowed microbial diversity, and reduced resilience to stress.
INFLECT combines two bacterial strains, B. simplex and B. subtilis, with the endophytic fungal strain C. nivea, each selected to tolerate the high-salt, high-stress conditions high ammonium fertility creates. Together, they help growers unlock more of the nitrogen they have already applied, supporting early vigor, uniform stands, and stronger performance under stress.
“High ammonium creates a harsh environment for soil biology — it reduces microbial diversity, which leads to inconsistent root development and lower yields,” said Jeff Divan, Vice President of Agronomy at Sound Agriculture. “In trials comparing different nitrogen sources, INFLECT consistently improved root area and fresh shoot weight in plants grown under ammonium-heavy fertility.”
What it costs and what it returns
INFLECT is priced at $12 per acre for the 2027 growing season. Early-order pricing is available to growers who order by October 15, 2026. At $12 per acre against a +6.0 bu/ac average yield improvement, INFLECT returns about $32 per acre (at $5.32/bu corn as of 9/10/2026), a 2.7-to-1 return for the grower. More information is at sound.ag/inflect.
INFLECT is backed by Sound Agriculture’s cash-back performance guarantee: growers who do not see a return can claim back up to the full cost of the product. Full terms are at sound.ag/risk-free-options/performance-guarantees.
INFLECT joins SOURCE®, a signaling chemistry that improves nitrogen and phosphorus efficiency, and BLUEPRINT®, an arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) solution that enhances nutrient and water uptake. Together, the three products reflect the company’s approach to building a field-validated suite of bio-inspired nutrient solutions centered on soil and crop health.
“INFLECT is a natural extension of what we set out to build with SOURCE and BLUEPRINT: solutions that are designed to help growers achieve better yields while protecting their soil health and their bottom line,” said Paul Beck, CEO, Sound Agriculture. “INFLECT restores soil biology on some of the toughest acres, and we’re proud to bring that soil health solution within reach for more growers.”
