GreenPoint AG’s Amy Winstead: What It Means to Be a Part of PACE

Amy Winstead of GreenPoint AG has been part of the CropLife PACE Advisory Board for 3 years but was unable to attend in-person meetings due to the pandemic. Last week, she participated — in person — in the PACE Executive Forum. We chatted with Amy about the PACE Initiative and her views about our inaugural event.
CropLife: Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Amy Winstead: I am a third generation college of ag graduate. As I entered graduate school, I was fortunate to be paired with a precision agriculture project and my love for ag technologies began there. I worked in the research and extension field before transitioning to agribusiness retail but the one constant throughout out my career has been merging technologies with agronomics to best fit the needs of our customers.
CL: How long have you been a member of the PACE Advisory Council?
AW: Three years. But this has been my first PACE event that I attended in person.
CL: What made you want to be part of PACE?
AW: I love the interactions with peers, especially in a format that encourages conversation and true dialogue. The members of PACE are the grassroots across the industry and have practical experience in their sector of business.
CL: As a board member, why do you think it is beneficial to have opened this forum to a larger group of delegates?
AW: The flow of information is focused, timely, and approached from the leader perspective which is unique.

CL: What did you most look forward to at the PACE Executive Forum?
AW: Interactions and conversations with industry counterparts!
CL: What would you tell your colleagues about PACE?
AW: Unlike larger conferences where the sessions are more presentation/listening, PACE focuses on interaction and attendee engagement.
CL: What do you think is the biggest challenge facing our industry today?
AW: It’s difficult to pick one! There is rapid change across the industry, especially dealing with a post-COVID environment. We have seen significant impacts to product supply, logistics, cybersecurity threats, and labor challenges, to name a few.
CL: Considering these challenges, why do you feel this event is critical to attend?
AW: Considering the magnitude of challenges and the rapid pace of change, it is critical to be engage with industry counterpart and leaders.
Note: Amy Winstead was a presenter on the session “The Changing Agribusiness Environment: New Constituents, New Alliances” during the PACE Executive Forum — an exclusive, new conference born out of CropLife Media Group’s longstanding PACE Initiative. For over 25 years, the PACE Advisory Council has been effective in breaking down silos among the many sectors of agriculture and ag input distribution by sharing challenges and opportunities, learning from one another, and developing strategies for future action.
