Reduction in drift. Extremely coarse droplets. Uniform coverage. Ideal for pre- and post-application. These are just some of the words that describe this year’s collection of spray nozzles on the market. View our slideshow above to see a number of different nozzle types (e.g., straight stream, air induced flat fan, twin flat spray) from the following companies: CP Products, Greenleaf Technologies, Hypro, Lechler Inc., TeeJet Technologies and Wilger.

The COMBO-JET SR Series drift reduction tip is a pre orifice enclosed turbulence chamber flat fan tip that produces even spray patterns. Flow rates range from 0.05 to 5.0 gpm, and spray angles reach 80° and 110° — with other angles possible. Made of polypropylene with a stainless steel insert, the tip offers a 30% to 50% reduction in drift compared to extended range flat fan tips. MORE INFO >>

The COMBO-JET MR Series drift reduction tip is a pre orifice enclosed turbulence chamber flat fan tip that produces even spray patterns. Flow rates range from 0.05 to 4.0 gpm, and spray angles reach 80° and 110° — with other angles possible. Made of polypropylene with a stainless steel insert, the nozzle offers a 50% to 75% reduction in drift compared to extended range flat fan tips. MORE INFO >>

The COMBO-JET DR Series drift reduction tip is a pre orifice enclosed turbulence chamber flat fan tip that produces even spray patterns. Flow rates range from 0.05 to 3.0 gpm, and spray angles reach 80° and 110° — with other angles possible. Made of polypropylene with a stainless steel insert, the tip offers a 75% to 90% reduction in drift compared to extended range flat fan tips. MORE INFO >>

The TTJ60 produces mostly medium to coarse droplets for improved coverage and canopy penetration making it ideal for fungicide and contact herbicide applications. New -08 and -10 sizes are ideal for higher rates and higher ground speeds. This non-air induction tip is also ideal for use with pulse width modulation (PWM) sprayer controls. MORE INFO >>

The TTI produces extremely coarse and ultra coarse droplets for maximum drift control, especially when working in drift sensitive areas or drift prone conditions. It is ideal for spraying systemic products like glyphosate and dicamba. The 15-100 psi operating pressure supports a wide range of ground speeds. MORE INFO >>

The AITTJ60 offers coarser droplets for improved drift control and a twin spray pattern for improved coverage. This tip is ideal for both contact and systemic herbicides depending upon operating pressure. A wide range of capacities (02-15) also supports higher speed and/or higher volume applications. Lechler’s FD and PRE liquid fertilizer nozzles are flat spray nozzles with horizontal jet formation. They provide even cross-distribution at all pressures and boom heights and create Extremely Coarse droplets. They have a Bayonet style connection, one piece style design and are rated for up to 95% drift reduction by European testing authorities. MORE INFO >>

The IDKT Twin Air Induction Flat Spray Nozzles produce a twin pattern for exceptional canopy and plant coverage, says Lechler. They will form a full pattern at low pressure and yield a very low drift potential up to 50 PSI. The nozzles have been rated for up to 90% drift reduction by European testing authorities. They feature a compact, durable design and an easy-to-clean removable injector. MORE INFO >>

The ID3 Air Induction Flat Spray Nozzle yields an extremely low drift potential across the entire working pressure range. It is rated for up to 90% drift reduction by European testing authorities and offers an easy cleaning removable injector. MORE INFO >>

Hypro’s Ultra Lo-Drift (ULD) spray tips have large air-centered droplets that provide superior resistance to drift. They also provide good coverage on weed foliage, making them ideal for pre- and post-emerge application of systemic herbicides. MORE INFO >>

The Hi-Flow (HF) spray tip has a wide 140° pattern that provides unmatched uniformity, says Hypro. It mounts directly to a standard nozzle body, making it ideal for pre-emerge application of fertilizer. MORE INFO >>

The GuardianAIR Twin spray tip produces an engineered spray pattern that provides an air-filled medium droplet with a high droplet count for coverage. Its twin spray rearward-inclined pattern provides more uniform coverage over a wide operating pressure capability, making it ideal for high-coverage application of post-emerge plant health protectants. The TurboDrop Variable Rate Hose Barb is a variable rate fertilizer injector that offers a wider flow range for variable rate applications or wide speed changes. Between 20 and 140 psi, a 3-4x flow rate change is possible. The TDVRHB is designed for use on liquid nitrogen applicators to inject or dribble fertilizer at either a constant or a variable rate across the field. MORE INFO >>

Greenleaf Technologies’ popular TurboDrop XL and TurboDrop DualFan are now available in a “D” series that provides a coarser droplet spectrum where drift control is the primary consideration. The TDXL-D (single fan) and TADF-D (dual fan) will deliver droplets generally in the Very Coarse (VC) to Extremely Coarse (XC) range from maximum drift control. MORE INFO >>

The new CP-109LS Air Stop nozzle is designed for use on air operated check valve systems. It is currently in testing and will likely be available for purchase in the fall of 2015. MORE INFO >>

The new CP74-NLOP nozzle is designed for top dress or side dress applications on row crops or at planting or post emerge. It is currently in testing and will likely be available for purchase in the fall of 2015. MORE INFO >>
