WSSA Members Advance ESA Compliance, Adjuvant Innovation at 2025 CPDA AICP Conference

Several Weed Science Society of America (WSSA) members recently shared their expertise at the Council of Producers and Distributors of Agrotechnology (CPDA) conference, held this year in Cape Coral, Florida. The CPDA’s 2025 Adjuvants, Inerts and Crop Protection Conference (AICP) convened May 5-7, with the theme: Stronger than the Storm!

“With tariffs, Endangered Species Act restrictions, Chinese supply issues and a new Farm Bill on the agenda, CPDA members don’t see insurmountable problems, but end-to-end solutions and opportunities instead,” said Terry Kippley, President and CEO of CPDA. “At a time of uncertainty and rapid change within agriculture, the 2025 AICP demonstrated why agriculture is ‘stronger than the storm.’”

WSSA was well represented by speakers and participants, noted Greg Dahl, WSSA past president, who attended the event. “Bill Chism, WSSA’s Endangered Species Committee chair, and Stanley Culpepper, another WSSA past president, made presentations on the Endangered Species Act and activities,” he said. “Other participating WSSA members included, Steve Li, who presented on drones and pesticide applications; Matt Faletti, who served as a meeting moderator; and Jeff Bunting, who made presentations regarding Harmonizing Pesticide Labels with Evolving Adjuvant Technology.

“In addition, WSSA member, Eric Spandl presented in a session on the CPDA Drift Reduction Agent (DRA) Update, including Testing DRA Adjuvants for Effectiveness,” added Dahl. “In total, about 15 WSSA members attended the CPDA meeting.”

Later this year, Dahl will be working with members from CPDA, WSSA and other organizations to provide adjuvant information for Endangered Species Act compliance, and for general use. “I am very proud of WSSA, and all that WSSA members are doing to share solutions to the many weed management and environmental challenges we face in today’s world,” said Hilary Sandler, Ph.D., and WSSA president. “I am also thankful to Terry Kippley and CPDA for being great hosts and putting on such a great meeting and opportunity for sharing knowledge.”
