When the conversations first started about ways, we can position ourselves to best serve our customers, who are our owners, we investigated the events that have been happening in the past few years. Black swan events such as product prices fluctuating constantly, the issues we faced regarding getting products to our facilities, be it logistics issues or availability issues, and the constant need to provide faster service for our ever-growing customer base told us it was time to do something different; something that was new in this area. By combining three of our facilities into a central bulk fertilizer location, we can leverage the market on buying products, our storage has increased by more than 100%. The other benefit to our West End facility is the ease of operation. The facility is fitted with technology from Doyle that allows for faster loading and unloading of trucks, which in turn is a faster service for the grower. Another huge added feature is the ability for Southern FS to control fertilizer shrink; the loading system will load the exact amount of ordered fertilizer. Overall, this process was a huge investment for the future of Southern FS. Still, by working with trusted partners such as Doyle, Stueve Construction, and Murray Equipment, we can continue being the premier provider for the growers in the Southern FS market.
