CommoditAg Accelerates Growth Plan with New CEO
August 13, 2019 CommoditAg has announced that John Demerly has joined the organization, assuming the role of CEO. In his role at CommoditAg, John will steer future growth of the organization as CommoditAg expands its market footprint and offerings.
“We are extremely pleased to have attracted someone with John’s talents and experience to lead the organization as we continue to build-out a national and eventual global marketplace,” said Bruce Vernon, Board Chairman for CommoditAg.
Vernon added, “CommoditAg’s growth requires a skilled leader such as John to fulfill our vision of being the farmer’s choice for e-commerce input needs and market access for suppliers through our network of carefully selected participants with fulfillment capabilities.”

Growing up on a farm, John has spent the vast majority of his 22-year career working in all facets of the agriculture industry, including leadership roles at Corteva AgriScience, Adayana Agribusiness Group, and the Indiana FFA Organization.
John’s past experiences include category and brand development and leadership of major industry brands, sales leadership of both seed and crop protection organizations, leadership of industry wide-strategic plans including Soy 2020 Vision and the Illinois Agriculture strategic plan, and providing strategic consulting expertise to numerous global agriculture organizations.
John received his BS and MS in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University and his MBA from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business.
John has served on the board of directors for the Agricultural Retailers Association and Purdue University College of Agriculture Dean’s Advisory Council, amongst other volunteer organizations.
