Salford Group Wins 2025 CropLife IRON Product of the Year Award

The AB230CD applicator from Salford Group has been named the winner of CropLife IRON’s 2025 Product of the Year award.
According to the readers of CropLife IRON magazine, the AB230CD applicator from Salford Group was named the winner of the publication’s annual Product of the Year competition for 2025.
“We’re honored to receive the CropLife Iron Product of the Year award for the second year in a row — after the SS400+ Spinner Spreader in 2024,” said Joe Dimler, Senior Manager, Business Development, accepting the trophy at the 2026 Illinois Fertilizer & Chemical Association annual meeting in mid-January. “Being recognized again for new technology really shows our team’s commitment to pushing application technology forward.”
The AB230CD is engineered to take advantage of the increased power profile of the Case IH Trident 5550 Dry Hi-Flow chassis. This applicator pairs an 80-foot boom with a 225-cubic-foot triple bin hopper. Built using 409 stainless steel, the AB230CD also features a standard 10-inch fan and snorkel.
According to Dimler, the hydraulic system improvements on the AB230CD allow the chassis to have greater top-end rates. “The AB230CD is a unique machine,” he said. “It can variable-rate apply up to three products, including micronutrients, and handle a wide range of application rates. That flexibility helps growers tackle agronomic challenges and get the most out of their crops.”
In operation, said Dimler, the AB230CD maintains speed at high rates and accurately controls application rates on hills and while turning.
“The 80-foot boom covers more with each pass than common 70-foot booms,” he said. “This 14% wider swath vs. many competitive air boom applicators equates to fewer passes, lower labor costs/chassis hours, and less soil compaction for users.”
