Back in 1912, DeKalb began producing products for the agricultural marketplace. Now, 100 years later, the company is still going strong.

To honor this milestone, DeKalb has commissioned the building of a 100th anniversary motorcycle. Designed by Paul Jr. Designs, the motorcycle features an antique board-tracker look to reflect a 1912 motorcycle style, as well as nickel-plating over modern-day chrome (characteristic of bikes from the early 1900s). Wood-themed details — to represent the wooden agricultural crates used during the early 20th century — and an antique-style tractor seat were also incorporated into the motorcycle’s design. However, as a tip of the hat to the modern day, the DeKalb 100th anniversary motorcycle is powered with E-85 fuel.

Honoring Growers

“For a century, DeKalb has remained committed to providing farmers with a portfolio of products,” says Jason Hoag, DeKalb marketing lead. “The chopper symbolizes that spirit of innovation and is a centerpiece of the brand’s anniversary celebration.”

In January, DeKalb began an online auction for the 100th anniversary motorcycle, which concluded in April. The winning bid will be officially announced at this fall’s Farm Progress Show in Boone, IA.
