Hintzsche Fertilizer To Sell Business To Helena

of Maple Park, IL, has agreed to sell its business to Helena Chemical Co., Collierville, TN, according to a report on ElburnHerald.com.
The story cites a press release from Hintzsche stating: “After many thoughtful discussions by the ownership regarding how to perpetuate the business, it was decided a sale of the business was in the best interest of all stakeholders.”
Hintzsche Fertilizer had grown significantly through acquisitions in recent years, rising from #55 in the CropLife 100 in 2004 with 5 locations to #37 with 15 locations as reported in 2013. Helena Chemical is the #2 ranked retail organization in the CropLife 100, with more 369 outlets as reported in 2013. The CropLife 100 is a listing of the largest retailers by sales volume (not including grain sales), reported annually in December by CropLife magazine.
