Albaugh Launches New Insecticide Seed Treatment for U.S. Market

Albaugh has announced the registration from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for Legend 5L ST, a new insecticide seed treatment offering available for sale in fall 2022.

Legend 5L ST is a broad-spectrum insecticide with activity on both soil and foliar pests. The water-based formulation was developed specifically to deliver enhanced handling, stability, performance, and value when used in custom blend seed treatment offers, and as a tank-mix partner with other seed treatment formulations. Legend 5L ST contains the active ingredient thiamethoxam, the same active ingredient found in Cruiser 5FS.

“Of the three neonicotinoid seed treatment options available today, thiamethoxam delivers the most value due to the flexibility across many crops as compared to imidacloprid or clothianidin,” says Chris Zita, Albaugh North American Director – Seed Treatment. “I was excited to launch thiamethoxam more than twenty-years ago, and I am excited to launch it again at Albaugh as we expand our seed treatment portfolio to bring more value to our customers.”

“This expansion of our seed treatment portfolio further demonstrates Albaugh’s commitment to delivering new products for our customers to use in their customized seed treatment offers,” Zita continued. Albaugh will continue to offer the imidacloprid-based Resonate brands in addition to Legend 5L ST as part of the company’s seed treatment insecticide portfolio.
