Monsanto is taking advantage of the popularity of the video-sharing Web site YouTube to promote the story of U.S. farmers with a three-minute video that tells viewers about the impact of agriculture in some new and unique ways.
The video includes such soybean facts as: One acre of soybeans can produce 82,368 crayons; The US. exported 38.5 million tons of soybeans in 2008, which equals the combined weight of 35 Golden Gate Bridges, 95 Empire State Buildings, 916 Lincoln Memorials, and an entire bus full of sumo wrestlers.
The video, which also appears on Monsanto’s Web site, is Monsanto’s way of telling the farmer’s story. Agriculture is a vital US. industry, but it remains largely unseen for most Americans. The fact that food for our families is available and abundant is generally taken for granted.
