MBFi Brings SaxSym Biologicals Technology to North America
March 26, 2024 Long-established agricultural biologicals technology developer and manufacturer MBFi (Microbial Biological Fertilizers International) has announced its entry into the North America marketplace with its SaxSym biologicals technology. The company’s key focus is to provide growers with effective, sustainable crop inputs.
“We’re excited to create, launch and manufacture our SaxSym products in North America,” says Steven Etherington, Director, North America. “With four microbiology laboratories globally, discovery and support labs, and growing chambers, we create our own technologies. Our commitment to technology with quality assurance gives us the advantage to understand how to design our products and how to develop them for optimum use in the field.”
The 20-year-old family-owned company also markets its crop technology products in South Africa and South America.
“Our SaxSym crop technology complements crop development by triggering a plant’s inherent defense system and adds to those defenses with microbials that provide bio-control/suppression of pests. This results in extending and enhancing the window of a plant’s defense which preserves environmental stability,” says Etherington. “The SaxSym technology supports a successful outcome for ROI, crop performance, yield and quality.”
MBFi works to not outsource product production. “Proprietary manufacturing of biologicals is extremely specialized,” says Tyson Vorderstrasse, MBFi Fermentation Operations Manager. “There are a select few that can design, implement and run fermentation facilities efficiently. Because we manufacture ourselves, we control our quality.”
He explains, “We work to balance the biological process during manufacture to deliver an exceptional product which optimizes performance. In our fermenters we control sterility, dissolved oxygen (DO), acidity (pH), agitation, temperature and pressure. With these functions, we can express the maximum potential from each organism to ultimately increase efficacy and yield.”
How SaxSym Technology Works
SaxSym technology delivers performance by selecting certain microbes for specific jobs in the crop. For example:
- Incite – Specifically developed to increase and maximize root architecture and induce the plant defense mechanism, systemic acquired resistance (SAR).
- Microphos – A true phosphate solubilizing microbe that solubilizes the inorganic fraction and mineralizes the organic fraction of your soil. It also plays a critical part in stimulating root development with Auxin production.
- Technical HC – A stress mitigation product that helps in those unforeseen circumstances of stress, which always appears during the growing season, adding to the stability of a crop’s performance. It also enhances the signaling between the plant and microbes which aids in improving root development.
