MANA Appoints New CEO

Makhteshim Agan Industries (MAI), parent of MANA Crop Protection, has named Rob Williams MANA CEO.

Williams has more than 17 years of experience in the crop protection industry. He has been with MAI for 11 years and has been serving as CEO of Makhteshim Agan UK (MAUK). Previously Williams was with Novartis (formerly Ciba Agriculture).

“We are excited to appoint one of our top country leaders to the role of CEO of MANA,” says Erez Vigodman, CEO of MAI. “Rob has provided exceptional leadership, marketing, and commercial skills for the MAI United Kingdom operations. He will help focus and expand our presence as a leading post-patent supplier of crop protection products to the important U.S. market.”

Under Williams’ leadership and strategic innovation, MAUK transformed its business model, established successful relationships throughout the UK distribution system, and saw rapid increases in sales, Vigodman says.

“U.S. agriculture is a challenging marketplace, and MANA already has a solid platform in place,” Williams says. “Building upon this platform, our MANA team can grow our standing within this market, not just in terms of sales and market share, but also in the level of respect and recognition for the MANA brand.”

Williams will relocate with his family to MANA’s headquarters in Raleigh. He will report to Shaul Friedland, head of the new Americas Region of MAI in Miami, FL. Williams succeeds John Rabby, who is retiring as MANA president.

“Williams is a welcome addition to our region’s team,” Friedland says. “Our U.S. agricultural business has been and will continue to be an important growth engine. The MANA team will work hard to provide the broadest and most flexible product portfolio and services to our customers across the U.S.”

Williams was born in Liverpool, England, and received his B.S. in biology from The University of Nottingham in England with a focus on crop protection and crop biochemistry.
