When it comes to fertilizer storage tanks and containment systems, manufacturers are offering ag retailers the highest standard of quality, with more options than ever before. From fiberglass to stainless steel, to capacities small and large, there is something for every sized dealer to meet its storage needs.
Precision Tank fabricates field-erected tanks in sizes from 100,000 to 3 million gallons, per API 650 standards. Sister company Precision Liquid Construction (formerly A&B Welding) is based in Iowa.
Agra Liners offers internal tank liners for bulk-liquid storage tanks. The company’s system uses a flexible PVC membrane inside the tank, which becomes the primary containment while the tank becomes the secondary containment. Its liners’ life expectancies can reach 18 to 20 years-plus in 28%, 32% nitrogen service, and 10-34-0 service.
Enviropac offers fiberglass, mild steel, and stainless-steel options. With the changes in the products being stored at dealerships, fiberglass is maintenance free and competitively priced with mild and stainless steel, the company says.
Novid makes a variety of stainless-steel products, including flat-bottom liquid fertilizer tanks with more than 100,000 U.S. gallons, chemical tanks, and hopper bottom dry fertilizer bins. The company says its DAS air mixing system allows for easy and efficient liquid-fertilizer mixing that is faster and safer than traditional methods.
Nutristore glass-fused-to-steel tanks for liquid fertilizers feature proven coating technologies that require minimal routine maintenance — and no need for repainting, Cady says.
Heartland offers a heated, insulated tank system to keep liquid product in tanks at a consistent temperature during winter, thanks to automated controls that offer stress-free operation, the company says. The system works with tanks with or without a liner. Both configurations use a heat source in addition to insulation panels to retain the heat.
ITS offers tanks and double-wall tanks in sizes ranging from 275 to 195,000 tons. All welds are X-ray-tested, and tank bottoms are double-vacuum-tested to ensure that the tank is built to API 650 Standards.
In the slideshow above, you’ll find examples of some of the latest technologies providing retailers with the capacities, long lives, and safety that they seek.
