Bridgestone Americas — owner of the Firestone tire brand — plans to rename its corporate operations. Don’t worry, it won’t affect your dealings with the tire company.
On Oct.14, Mark A. Emkes, chairman and CEO of Bridgestone Americas Holding, Inc., announced the plan, which will go into effect on Jan. 1, 2009. Essentially the plan realigns the Firestone company with Bridgestone Americas and explains the new corporate structure, Jeremy Smith, community & corporate resources manager, told CropLife eNews in a phone call.
“The major change was that the Firestone name was coming out of the tire division, but still includes the Firestone brand tires,” he said.
Most ag retailers have dealt with the Firestone Agricultural Tire Division, which will be renamed the Agricultural Tire, U.S. & Canada Commercial Tire Sale Division as of Jan. 1, 2009. “This will not affect who you deal with, what you purchase, or the distribution,” Smith says.
