HGS Bioscience Launches HumiK ONE Slingshot to Advance Fertility Programs
HGS Bioscience, a leader in biological crop solutions, has introduced HumiK ONE Slingshot, a combination of humic substances and beneficial microbes designed to improve fertilizer efficiency, build soil health, and help crops withstand environmental stress — supporting stronger, more sustainable yields.
The launch marks the company’s first integrated biological product following its acquisition of Pharmgrade earlier this year, bringing together HGS Bioscience’s legacy humic technology with advanced microbial inoculants in a single, convenient product.
Designed for use with dry fertilizer programs, HumiK ONE Slingshot can be applied pre-plant, at planting, in season, or post-harvest on crops including potatoes, corn, soybeans, wheat and cotton. The granular formulation integrates directly into existing fertilizer programs, eliminating the need for liquid application systems or additional equipment.
“HumiK ONE Slingshot combines two proven technologies that work together to improve nutrient availability and soil productivity,” said Kelly Tanaka, chief science officer, HGS Bioscience. “By combining humic substances and microbial technologies in a granular formulation, it provides growers with a practical way to increase yield and improve long-term soil health without adding complexity to existing fertility programs.”
HumiK ONE Slingshot features proprietary Extracted Granule Technology, which evenly delivers active humic substances and beneficial plant microorganisms with dry fertilizer, unlocking 15-20% more phosphorous and potassium in the soil.
Humic substances improve soil structure, increase water-holding capacity, and retain nutrients in the root zone, where crops can use them more efficiently. They also stimulate root growth, support beneficial microbial activity, and improve stress tolerance. As a major component of soil organic matter, regular humic applications can improve long-term soil productivity while reducing nutrient losses.
The microbial consortium includes bacteria and fungi that promote growth by releasing bound phosphorus and potassium, fixing atmospheric nitrogen, and establishing a beneficial microbial community around plant roots.
“Together, these stacked technologies provide multiple modes of action that help growers improve nutrient uptake, reduce crop stress and build more resilient fertility programs,” said Tanaka. “We are excited to bring this to market ahead of the 2027 growing season to help farmers successfully mitigate environmental challenges in the field as they navigate uncertainty with fertilizer prices.”
