Custom Applicators: Get Ready for the Equipment, Innovation, and Recognition at MAGIE 2025
August 14, 2025 It’s hard to believe that almost a year has passed since the last Midwest AG Industries Exposition (MAGIE) took place.
But here we are, on the cusp of the 43rd meeting of this grand summer trade show. For ag retailers, equipment lovers, and myself, there is no other trade show quite like MAGIE. Each year brings a mixture of the familiar and the new.
On the familiar side, each MAGIE sees the best in ag retailer-oriented equipment and services come together on a single stage. There’s also plenty of good food (much of it compliments of the vendors themselves), awards for best product (ShowStopper), booth display (IMAGE), and best custom applicator (Custom Applicator of the Year). There’s also the chance to catch up with multiple industry friends in person following countless Teams meetings throughout the rest of the year.
On the new side, there’s the products on display. Each year, many companies that cater to the needs of the ag retailer and their grower-customers use MAGIE to debut their latest innovations. For example, at the 2024 MAGIE, some of the new products on display included the SS400+ Spinner Spreader from The Salford Group, the NL720 from New Leader, and the Electric Tender from Doyle. More such new product introductions are likely in the offing for the 2025 MAGIE as well.
Speaking of innovations, it will be interesting to see how many of these new products fall into the Smart Tech category. Throughout the winter trade shows, many companies previewed ag products and systems that employed high tech advancements such as autonomy and artificial intelligence (AI) into their brands. I anticipate at least a few of these will be highlighted on the McLean County Fairgrounds in Bloomington, IL, in late August.
