Top Screen Results On Way

Retailers will be hearing from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) soon.

DHS recently stated that the results of at least 30,000 of the chemical facilities that submitted to the Top Screen have been screened out or placed in a tier level of one to four, with tier four being the lowest terrorist target. DHS has indicated that about 6,500 sites are in one of the tier levels and should receive a DHS letter in a few weeks.

The Agricultural Retailers Association (ARA) believes that most retailers will not be in any of the security tiers and those that are will be in tier four and be able to use Asmark’s SVA program as their security assessment tool. Retailers that have not yet submitted to the Top Screen, don’t know what tier their facility is in, or have any additional questions, please contact ARA’s Jim Thrift at 202-457-0825, or via e-mail at [email protected].
