OSHA Honors Pioneer Facility

Pioneer Hi-Bred’s Rushville, IN, production location recently was recognized by the Indiana Department of Labor (IDOL) for continued excellence in workplace health and safety. The recognition is the highest level in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP), the VPP Star.

“Pioneer proves that by having a well-developed, proactive safety and health management program, workplaces of any size can keep workers safe while on the job,” says Lori Torres, commissioner of labor.

Rushville achieved this honor through worksite commitment to effective safety and health management systems.

“I’m extremely proud of our location for earning this honor,” says Bill Taufmann, plant manager. “We’ve put a strong emphasis on safety since we opened our doors in 1967, and I look forward to our continued safety success well into the future.”

The Rushville production locations employs nearly 50 full-time employees and up to 1,500 temporary employees throughout the year. The location produces, packages and ships hybrid seed corn and wheat to Pioneer sales professionals throughout the Northeast and Heartland regions of the U.S. They have harvested more than 1 million units of corn and 75,000 units of wheat this year.
