New Herbicides For 2011

The new crop of herbicides includes:

Capreno (tembotrione/thiencarbazone methyl) corn herbicide from Bayer CropScience offers residual action in post-emergence for more than 65 grass and broadleaf weeds.

Fierce (flumioxazin/pyroxasulfone) soybean herbicide from Valent (pending EPA approval). It provides preemergence residual control of annual grasses and broadleaf weeds such as marestail, waterhemp, pigweed, common ragweed, lambsquarters and morninglory.

Kixor (pyrimidieneeodione) herbicide from BASF provides control of broadleaves, including glyphosate, ALS inhibitor and triazine-resistant weeds such as giant ragweed, lambsquarters and marestail, in corn, soybeans, cotton and many other crops.

Prequel (rimusulfuron/isoxaflutole) corn herbicide from DuPont Crop Protection. Launched with a limited supply in 2010, Prequel will be fully-distributed in registered states in 2011 for burndown and residual control of grass and broadleaf weeds through postemergence application closer to crop canopy.

Pulsar (dicamba/fluroxypyr) wheat and barley herbicide from Syngenta. Available in limited supply in 2010, Pulsar controls a wide range of broadleaves including wild buckwheat and ALS-resistant kochia.

RealmQ (rimsulfuron/mesotrione) corn herbicide, pending EPA registration, from DuPont Crop Protection. As a tank-mix partner with glyphosate, RealmQ delivers three modes of action for grass and broadleaf weed control, including many glyphosate-resistant weeds.

TripleFLEX (acetochlor premix) corn herbicide from Monsanto. TripleFLEX contains three modes of action for pre- or postemergence control of a broad spectrum of grasses and broadleaf weeds such as pigweed, lambsquarters, waterhemp, velvetleaf and ragweed species.

Verdict (pyrimdieneedione) corn, soybean and grain sorghum herbicide from BASF. Verdict, powered by Kixor technology, reflects a newly-expanded label and provides burndown and residual broadleaf control in corn with the flexibility of use in soybeans. It may be applied for control of 46 broadleaf weed and grass species.

Warrant (acetochlor) corn, soybean and cotton herbicide from Monsanto. Warrant applied over-the-top provides control of herbicide-resistant weeds such as Palmer amaranth and waterhemp.
