Leadership Positions Appointed
August 12, 2008 Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd. and Arysta Life Sciences select new top officers.
- Valent U.S.A. Corp. has promoted President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Trevor Thorley to executive officer for parent company Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd. He is the first non-Japanese to hold the position, which has already been confirmed at the company’s annual shareholder meeting in Tokyo.
Thorley will continue his roles as Valent president and COO as well as general manager for Region Americas crop protection business for Sumitomo Chemical in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America.
- Dr. David Jones, former head of business development for Syngenta, has agreed to serve as non-executive chairman of Arysta LifeScience Corp. The company was recently acquired by Industrial Equity Investments Limited (IEIL), a Permira Funds company.
Jones will chair the Arysta LifeScience board of directors, support shareholders and management in development of company strategy, and monitor strategy implementation for results.
