In Memoriam: Kim Kimbrough

One of the key organizers of the National Alliance of Independent Crop Consultants (NAICC), John Marmaduke “Kim” Kimbrough III, died March 11 of a heart attack.

Kimbrough was an active row-crop producer, cattleman, and conservationist in Lexington, MS and had been quoted on occasion in Ag Consultant, a former sister publication of CropLife® magazine. He was a 1990 recipient of the National Endowment for Soil & Water Conservation Award; organizing president of NAICC; past president of the Mississippi Agricultural Consultant’s Association; 1999 recipient of the Service to Agriculture award from NAICC; recipient of the 1994 Cyanamid Consultant of the Year; past director of the Holmes County Livestock Association and the Mississippi Cattlemen’s Association; past president of Holmes County Farm Bureau; and current chairman of the Holmes County Soil & Water Conservation Board.

Born Jan. 9, 1947, he was a lifelong resident of Lexington, MS. A member and Ruling Elder of First Presbyterian Church of Lexington, Kimbrough also was an Eagle Scout and Brotherhood member of Order of the Arrow, Past Scoutmaster of Troop 64 in Lexington, and a 1969 graduate of Mississippi State University, where he was a member of the Block & Bridle Club and Alpha Zeta Honorary Agriculture Fraternity.

A memorial service was held March 14. He is survived by his wife Deborah "Debbie" Magee Kimbrough; two daughters, two sons, six grandchildren, and a sister and brother.
