Deal To Improve Grain Shipments

GROWMARK, Inc. and Central States Enterprises, Inc. (CSE) announced a new grain marketing agreement that will cover grain shipped on rail lines in Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin beginning this month.

Davis Anderson, GROWMARK vice president, Grain, says the new agreement — which complements a standing alliance between the two organizations — will cover grain shipped on the CN-IC rail line in Iowa, and the CN-IC, NS, CSX, and UP rail lines in Illinois and Wisconsin. The agreement will also cover grain shipped on various short rail lines in Illinois and Wisconsin that connect to Class I rail carriers. Forty GROWMARK-affiliated grain companies in Illinois and 20 in Iowa will benefit from the agreement.

GROWMARK and CSE have a separate agreement to develop grain marketing alternatives for Iowa grain companies. Under that agreement, CSE handles the logistics of rail shipments and works to create additional demand for Iowa grain.
