GROWMARK Names 2013 Summer Interns

In the 54th year of the program, 61 college students are exploring career opportunities as GROWMARK summer interns. They are working at FS cooperatives in Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin and Ontario; as well as GROWMARK FS; MID-CO COMMODITIES; SEEDWAY; Select Seed; and the GROWMARK corporate office in Bloomington, IL.

The interns are exposed to accounting, marketing, communications and product and service-related activities.

The group attended an orientation program at the GROWMARK corporate office in May, and will reconvene in June for an agribusiness tour. Each intern will complete a special project and deliver a presentation on that project in August.

“This year, we have our largest intern class ever,” said Ashley McClintock, GROWMARK university relations manager. “They will gain hands-on experience in their chosen field, and have the opportunity to clarify career goals.”

The GROWMARK intern program began in 1959 with three interns. Since then, 892 students have been involved in the program.

Delaware Valley College

  • Amie Burke, daughter of Virgil and Debbie Burke of Fithian, IL, is majoring in agricultural communications with a focus in leadership and working for the Energy Division of GROWMARK.
  • Breana Cameron, daughter of Martin and Wendy Cameron of Astoria, IL, is majoring in finance and working for the Treasury Division of GROWMARK.
