Hartsville Mayor Mel Pennington said Tuesday that Agrium officials told him it was a financial decision. Agrium says it has two other plants in the U.S. working at 50% capacity that can take up the work lost at the Hartsville facility. The company says it will work to provide severance packages and employment opportunities for the 60 former employees of the plant.
