Jerry Stoller, founder, president, and CEO of StollerUSA in Houston, TX, has been honored with the 2009 Good Nabor Alumni Award by the Nabor House Fraternity at the University of Illinois. Stoller was selected as the 30th recipient of this prestigious recognition presented to an alumnus who exemplifies the goals and objectives of the Fraternity. Selection criteria is based on professional achievements, leadership, and accomplishments in community and civic activities, and holding fast to the ideals of Christian brotherhood and cooperation. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural science from the University of Illinois in 1959, followed by a Master of Science degree in soil science at Cornell University in 1960.
Dr. Scott Hutchins, global crop protection research and development leader for Dow AgroSciences, has been named a Fellow of the Entomological Society of America (ESA). This top honor recognizes his outstanding contributions that have impacted research and development in the field of entomology over the past two decades. He is the first career private sector entomologist to have been elected as a Fellow of ESA since the honor was established in 1934.
H.J. Baker & Bro., Inc. has appointed Arthur (Art) Bentley to the new position of director, business development. In this role, he will work on strategic initiatives designed to drive H.J. Baker’s customer-focused profitable growth.
Cibus, a leading plant trait development technology company, has added three scientists to its team in the first phase of a growth strategy that will include the addition of 10 new staff members by the end of 2009. Dr. Uvini Gunawardena, who brings more than 20 years of experience, will join Cibus as research scientist, molecular biology. Brian Aevermann and Tiffany Hsu have been appointed to the cell biology department as senior research associate and research associate, respectively.
Christopher Bohn has joined CF Industries Holdings, Inc. as director of corporate planning. He succeeds Steve Chase, who will retire later this year.
Brian Zeeb has accepted the position of district sales manager for the Central Midwest sales district for Mycogen Seeds. He will be responsible for leading and managing the sales activities and sales representatives within Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky. He previously served in several positions in the seed industry, including at Wyffels Hybrids and AgVenture, Inc.
Marty Cook, an experienced precision agriculture specialist, has been named Canadian regional sales manager for Topcon Precision Agriculture. He will work out of Winnipeg, MB and will coordinate directly with the Topcon Precision Ag offices in Olathe, KS.
