7 Reasons To Attend MACA '09

Here are the top seven reasons to attend the 2009 Mid America CropLife Association’s (MACA) Annual Meeting Sept. 8-10 at the Marriott West, St. Louis, MO.
7. Networking. It’s available from the time you step into the hotel to the time you leave. Between program sessions; there’s breakfasts, lunches, and dinners; and don’t forget the receptions on Tuesday and Wednesday to meet up with colleagues!
6. Speakers. The six key speakers have more knowledge and experience than a telephone book six inches thick!
5. Opportunities. There are several. Plan to attend the personal finance session by Reed Murphy of Commerce Bank, who will be discussing “What Can You do in These Times?” It’s also a great opportunity to learn more about MACA’s range of initiatives -- from the Traceability Implementation Project to the CropLife Ambassador Network program to the efforts of the Distribution & Environment Committee.
4. Golf. Four people make up a gold team, so here’s the perfect opportunity to demonstrate your skills and have some fun. Just ask Rob Dittmer, John McKinney, or Jim Lehman.
3. Time. Three days to schedule meetings, gather information, network, or have some fun golfing -- all conveniently located at one event. It’s amazing what you can get done without having to travel to different locations and the money that can be saved.
2. Political Changes. Since the new administration came into office in January, there are several new changes proposed that will impact Midwest agriculture. Find out how from two insiders – Dr. Stephen Johnson, former U.S. EPA administrator and Dr. Barry Flinchbaugh, Kansas State University.
1. Ag Credit. The number one issue: What does 2010 hold for the crop protection industry? Three financial insiders -- Dave Sparks, CoBank; Travis Vogler, U.S. Bank; and Ken Feaster, First National Bank of Omaha -- will share their insights and findings on what the future may bring.
Registration is now open for the 2009 MACA Annual Meeting. Visit www.maca.org to register.

Proud Veterans Speak Up
Last week, in honor of Veterans Day, this column asked that you take a moment to thank a veteran or someone currently serving for all that they do to keep our freedoms intact. A few veterans had something to say too.
Thank You, Veterans
Much like the agriculture industry you serve, our military veterans are an integral part of the core soul, the fascinating history, and the future fate of our country. If you’re a veteran reading this column, I humbly say “thank you.” | Reader Poll
